Clouds: A Series of Art in the Sky

The formation of clouds in the sky caught my attention when I was on my journey to and from KL a few weeks back. Having nothing to do, I took out my camera and started snapping away the beautiful artwork in the vast sky.

Please note that these pictures are taken with my almost antique-like Panasonic Lumix LZ1 digital camera. No super DSLRs is being used while taking these shots from a moving vehicle. ENJOY!!

Cameras & Angles: My perspective.....

Cameras? Ready. Model? Ready. Strike a pose!

Nervousness sets in. I struggled. But both photographers were looking for shots. I tried to look as natural as I could. The hot sun didn't helped much. I was perspiring like a leaking tap. My best friend, Janice was there with me. She tries to draw away the nervous feeling from me. I worked with her. We talked to the photographers. As we walked along the heritage trail, I gradually feel more relaxed. The photographers started snapping away. I tried my best to give them a natural pose for their shots as the theme was "A walk along the heritage trail with Wun".

I had always wanted to know how it felt to be the main subject of attention. Little did I know that it was a lot of hard work and skills needed. Apart from that, one would have to be able to handle the attention that is given. Being camera shy, I had to work through my shyness to enable the photographers to obtain good pictures. As one feel comfortable with oneself and made friends with the camera, the task of being photographed become easy. Of course, being vain would be the best trait at that time.

The whole session lasted for approximately 3 hours. The process was a fun experience. I realised that I still need to work on 'being natural' and also learn how to smile. It also strikes me that I have the capability to imagine how a shot would be but I am unable to deliver that shot. I still need directions when it comes to positioning myself for a shoot. This is when the photographers' directions come in handy.

Alas, the walks into alleys, peeping into people's window, and avoiding uninvited company ends well. Quite a number of shots where snapped but I don't know how many are eligible. I was shown some of the pictures taken but I am sure there are more nice shots under the safe keeping of the photographers. Yet, I am quite satisfied with the results. Thanks to the photographers for their time and effort put in.

Reviving an invisible flair...

Looking at the models in the glossy magazine pages, I wonder if I would be able to strike a pose for the camera as well as those models do. Little did I know that this passion for looking pretty and being photographed was already in me a long, long time ago. A few years back, the nanny who took care of me handed me four (4) photo albums. Those were photographs of my cousin and me when we were young. The four albums are the keys to an untold secret :

Once upon a time, a little star was born...

so, that's where the hand pose came from

As I grew up, I became camera-shy. Those potential shown in my baby days were gone with the snap of a finger. I grew up not liking most of the photographs which had me in them. Was never satisfied with the way I look. I became someone who couldn't be bothered with they way I look and was more of a tomboy-ish person.

Years go by and eventually I gradually transformed. Gradually, the hidden potential began to reveal itself. One fine day, my mum asked me why don't I get my picture taken. I thought I heard her wrongly but that's what she ask. Something within me agreed with my mother's idea. Coincidently, someone which I had befriended a few years back was passionately pursuing his hobby in photograph. He'd suggested that I modelled for him IF I wanted to. I was rather reluctant initially. However, after much thought I say why not give it a shot. So, I told my friend (YN) and an appointment was made for the photoshoot. Before I the day of the shoot, I had a slight discussion with the photographer and stated out the objectives. To me, this shoot is very much personal where I try to get out of being camera-shy. It was also to fulfil my desire to be photographed as a model (wannabe).

And the verdict is.......

this is one priceless shot by YN

I'd had the privilege of being photographed by two (2) photographers one of which is YN and the other is his colleague, Naga. The pictures shown below are the works of Naga.

this is one of my favourite shot by Naga

My favourite shot of the lot

As I relinquish the awkward feeling when being photographed, I had allowed a hidden passion to be fulfilled. Now, the long forgotten star is getting it's glow after so long.....

Taylor Swift -Love Song

We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air

See the lights
See the party, the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
And say hello, little did I know

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you please don't go, and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes

So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while

'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don't go and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes

Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story baby just say yes
Oh oh

I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you is fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said

Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring

And said, marry me Juliet
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story baby just say yes

Oh, oh, oh, oh'
Cause we were both young when I first saw you

I fell in love with this song the first time I saw the video....if only it is real....

Longing for those warm, strong hands...

He gave her hug and she went to bed feeling happy that night. She did not expect that to happen but it did. Then she had to leave the city for 3 days. She longed to see him again but she knew there is still time for them to meet again. 3 days passed by in the quickest of time. They decided to meet again.

She saw him standing there and her heart flipped. She was happy to see him. He is like the ‘light’ that brightens up her day. So they walked together. As they walked, she felt a little cold. He, being the man was feeling alright. So she slipped her hand onto his arms. Eventually, his hand found hers and they walk hand in hand together. It was a surprise to her. She did not foresee that this meeting would bring them together. It was the happiest moment for her after so long. They spent the night having dinner and managed to catch a movie. She held him throughout the movie never wanting to let go knowing that she’ll not be able to see him as often. She left for home the next day…….

Soon it was Christmas, then New Year and followed by Chinese New Year. January goes by as fast as February did and now it is March. Three months had passed by. They have not met after she left for home. She longed for those warm, strong hands which she held on to three months ago. Now she finds it hard to imagine how comfortable and assuring those hands felt. And as the months floated by, they seldom keep in touch. She tries to spend some time talking to him yet their conversation seems to be getting shorter by the days. Sometimes she wonders if there is still anything between them. Before all these, they’ve had so much to talk about but now it is so different.

She knows he is extremely busy with his commitment towards work. Thus she told herself to give it time. She needs the time to herself too. Both are at the prime time of their lives where they have the freedom and ability to fight for their future. With the distance between them, she learned to persevere through the wait and those longing feelings, knowing that she will see him again one day. Having people asking her about him did not make it any easier yet she covered her feelings with smiles and laughter. She hid all her feelings behind the happy mask and the four walls of her room. Never telling anyone about the unruly ocean within her. It is best that it stays unknown to anyone while she learns the few most valuable virtue: trust, patience and most important of all LOVE.

One Christmas ago....

Christmas started early in 2008. I’m not only talking about the wonderful presents but also the celebration. With a night out with colleagues on the eve of Christmas and an early arrival at Janice’s house, this occasion was celebrated with much love and joy.

Unexpectedly the presents arrived early too. Just days before, I received a cute compact mirror which my cousin, Nicole had bought for me from Korea. It comes with two mirrors whereby one of it is a magnifying mirror. Haha…I didn’t realize that until my cousin told me about it. Then it was Christmas Eve and Santa’s helpers delivered their parcels early in the office. Three surprises from the office.

On Christmas morning, I report in early at Janice’s house as promised. Reason of early attendance is to help out with the preparation. Guests arrived early this year as well!! After providing assistance in the kitchen, it was then time to feast. With rice and Indian curry to savor, I just cannot resist the temptation. I left late in the evening just in time to join my family for dinner.

As for the gifts, below is the list of items that I’ve received this year ….

A huge baby bottle from JC
A pair of earrings from me director
A cute, pink mug from me manager
An anklet from Minah Broker
A scarf from a friend
PIXIE – A Japanese Momiji Doll from non other than Karen (so cute!!)
The BodyShop Lip Shimmer in Dusk Rose from Janice…..(might be some more coming)

Thank you for the pleasant gifts. Appreciate them all…

Christmas celebration did not end on 25 Dec itself. Both Janice and Karen decided to have a post-Christmas movie and dinner date on 27 Dec. So we went to catch YESMAN. Simply hilarious. After the movie we headed to Chillies for dinner. Boy..we just did not learn our lesson last time. We ordered 3 dishes and we all ended up overstuffed. But it was a good night out.

After the stuffing the night before, all of us were still full the next day. However, the feasting did not stop for me. On Sunday night, I headed to my colleague's house for a bbq dinner. Food was good. Living by the motto " Live to Eat", I just helped myself with everything that was available there. I went back a happy person.

Alas, Christmas is definitely a festival of feast. =)

One last piece before the clock strikes 12

Just as midnight arrives, everyone in the club started hugging and wishing each other Happy New Year 2008! Now I’m here completing one last blog entry for the year 2008. Sitting here while most people are out having a blast to usher in the New Year, I am here reminiscing about all that had taken place in 2008 itself. It is a year which sees me moving forward and further from my safe circle. It was also a fun year for me.

Life started with me struggling to fight the fact that ‘he’ belongs to someone else now. I’ve gone through times where thoughts of us together linger across my mind. It just left a bad feeling there and then. Eventually I got over that feeling and opened myself up to the world outside.

Having found new friends and colleagues, lifestyle changes. Being a passive person I had gotten myself involved in some outdoor activities which lead to me participating in an adventure race. That experience was priceless. I had managed to fulfill my hidden dream of being involved in such activity. The race had also helped me work on my fear of heights.

Everything in life seems to happen continuously bringing one experience to another. The past year had seen me standing firm on my decision for the longest time. Playing the role of putting down someone else’s hope was not nice at all. But having no choice, a stern stand had to be made clear for it had put me in a dilemma which I never imagined would befall upon me. Alas I’ve made the right decision. This experience not only made me stronger, it also opened my eyes to discovering what I want in life.

I’ve had a wonderful birthday this year which I organized myself. Of course venue was at daddy’s restaurant at Sungai Ara. After that it was all work with income tax submission datelines. There had been many surprises this year with a last minute holiday trip back to the land of my origins. Not to forget the wonderful Asian ECK Youth Retreat at El Sanctuary, Malacca.

All these great happenings had been wonderful and made my life more beautiful. Being presented the abundance of having great friends and meeting amazing people, life has been an interesting journey. I have opened my heart up to accept whatever that is being laid upon me and I love it.

To Janice & Karen, thanks for standing by for me all these while. Our beach escapades, crazy food frenzy and movie weekends had been so much fun because of your presence. Of course 2009 may see more crazy small gatherings and we could have AL and the ever so entertaining ‘cuntilicious Ced’ with us, making us laugh till we tear. Oh not to forget covering our faces with Menus and praying hard that the restaurant proprietor don’t chase us out because our ‘ga-ga-ness’ made other restaurant patrons think we are crazy.

To the others who’d made an appearance in my life, the time which we’d spent together has made my life amazing and I’m grateful that we all crossed path.

Have A Wonderful New Year!!!
